You will see from our October Newsletter, under the “From the FSB” Circular 8/2013 that the FSB are looking at a possible merger of the RE1 and RE5 exams, amongst other things, at some point in the future. We have already have enquires from a client asking what should they do in the meantime for staff who need to be working towards being a KI and Rep. Well they have to continue with the current separate exams – there is no other option. The circular states that the “The FSB intends to investigate the possibility of combining the RE1 and RE5 examinations into one cost effective and time efficient examination” There are no time lines mentioned and we do not see that this will be anytime soon – probably well over a year to bring out such an exam even assuming the make the call to do the merger.
